A local, unsigned Sheffield based band The Gentlemen have become the 100,000th member of the legendary PRS for Music (Performing Rights Society) which has represented songwriters, composers and music publishers for close to a century.

The Gentlemen became the 100,000th member through the band’s front-man Nicholas Rognli-Olsen Noble who is ¼ of the band with Sean D’Souza Walsh, Josh Cana and Joel Cana.

“I can’t believe I am PRS for Music’s 100,000th member! My Dad, Keith is a songwriter too. He sang in the Screaming Abdabs who went on to be known as Pink Floyd – he has been nagging me for years to join after one of his songs in the 60’s achieved PRS awards and several million radio plays. The band has recently released Lights of Tokyo which is getting some great support. We’re proud to be members of such a key music institution – this is really important right now.”

Mark Lawrence, Membership Director, PRS for Music adds: “This is a historic milestone for PRS for Music and reminds us what we’ve achieved over the last century. Our songwriters are a huge global success story, being heard in more places than ever –across TV, radio, live and online. Whether they are producing film soundtracks, writing the Number 1 UK chart hit or are playing sold out stadiums around the world – PRS for Music members soundtrack our lives.”

The Gentlemen currently have a Pledge Music campaign on the go raising money in a bit to help them release their new album ‘Departures’.

‘Departures’ is the most exciting studio album to date from The Gentlemen. Songs such as ‘Lights of Tokyo,’ ‘New York Girl’ and ‘Words’ will make a wonderful addition to your existing music collection.

With Nicholas becoming the 100,000th member of PRS for Music and new fans including Dermot O’Leary (who hosted the band on his Radio 2 show) and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, The Gentlemen are ready to make their mark on the world.

By supporting the Pledge Music campaign you will help get ‘Departures’ air time, keep the band travelling on tour plus autographed merchandise, music lessons and even afternoon tea or a private, personal performance from the band in your own home.
